To MTV did an interview with Elijah Wood that was posted on Friday with some stunning news about The Hobbit movies coming out in the next year or three.

Everyone just assumed that these movies would take place during The Hobbit events spread out over two films, presumably Part 1 and Part 2.

The long awaited movie adaptation of The Hobbit finally gets a director. Guillermo Del Toro, the Mexican director has been handed over the reins for the middle-earth tale preceding Lord of the Rings and its sequel. Peter Jackson made the announcement with Fran Walsh on 24th April in a press conference called by New Line Cinema.
