Have you bought your .mobi domain, yet? Any plans to? I’ll admit that I’ve been thinking about this off and on for a while now, but I can’t see the benefit of a .mobi domain at this point.

According to a simple Google search, there are currently about 706,000 developed .mobi sites, and many appear to be non-English. At first this was a little surprising, but as I look at how people use the internet in Japan it makes more sense. Many people here are on trains for at least an hour a day. Everyone over the age of 3 seems to have a cell phone. Almost every one of these people (it seems) spends an incredible amount of time on the internet through these little devices.

But why the .mobi?
