If Suicide were painless would there be any lawyers?

Samuel Israel vanishes but leaves note to world that "Suicide is Painless" If that were true and everyone facing legal troubles or a jail sentence committed suicide, would there be a need for lawyers anymore? While the FBI has only found Samuel's car with his message they have not found his body or any trace of him. My guess is rather than face jail he has fled the country and just wants people to think he committed suicide
