2. finds a way to buy it direct and sell as your competition
3. finds a way to buy it direct and sell it for only $11 - and ruining the market.
In my mind, there are only three ways for smaller players to compete on eBay.
1. Sell something only you produce or have access to - therefore there is no EXACT competition. Let's say you custom make wooden toys and there is a specific toy you make that no one else can make.
2. Sell something that has defined scarcity. Lie baseball cards. There are only a finite number of cards printed each year. No more are made, so by definition havng one limits your competition.
3. Service / Reputation. ebay is very price driven, but if you answer emails quickly, have squeeky clean feedback, provide slightly more service at the same cost, you will create a niche within a niche.
