You would think commercial fishermen might be good custodians of the marine habitat, and probably many are, but at times I wonder if they understand their impact on their own livelihood by over-fishing and short-term plundering of the very species that provides their income. Maybe it's a small minority of seasonal opportunists who are the most visible abusers and regulatory scofflaws.
Perhaps one day we'll wake up to either an enlightened awareness or a nautical 'silent spring' like the Japanese whalers are trying to expedite.
