Catnip has uses other than for just cats, as we have already seen.  Humans have been using it for food flavoring, for catnip tea, and for medicinal purposes.  Catnip is a stimulant to cats, but it is a mild sedative for humans.  Catnip tea is one of the primary ways of getting it into our systems, and helps colicky babies, upset stomachs, allergy problems, hyperactive children, and those with sleeping problems.  Additionally you can make poultices to help reduce swelling and act as an anti-inflammatory agent.
