Southwest Airlines began as a small Texas airline. However, today Southwest Airlines has grown to become one of the largest airlines in US. Moreover, Southwest Airlines has been a pioneer in advancement of the commercial airline industry. They were the first to initiate the frequent flyer program which was based to give the customer credit for the number of trips taken and not for the number of miles flown. Southwest Airlines also pioneered the senior citizens discount program, fun fares and fun packs and the ticket less travel system.
