With ever increasing speed demands the welcome addition of USB 3.0 is highly anticipated. We should see the spec released in the first half of 2008 meaning we the consumers, may see it in products by 2009. By adding fiber optic links alongside traditional copper wire, data transfer rates will be more than 10 times faster. USB 3.0 will be backward compatible with 2.0 and it will be more energy efficient
