Beauty is skin deep. And for dolphins, so is speed! Man has marveled for centuries over the speed at which dolphins and whales propel through the water.

Nearly a decade ago, zoologist Sir James Gray concluded that the energy needed for a dolphin to swim so fast is nearly 10 times that which they can produce but new research is beginning to unlock the secrets of the dolphin's speed.
