Planning Our Obsolescence

Some of the world's greatest minds are working on artificial intelligence systems that can completely simulate a human. Honda, Toyota and several other large companies are working to make a human-like robot. Merge these two technologies and we could have androids just as advanced as Commander Data on Star Trek. But are we ready for this? As it is, we have enough trouble with accepting people because of skin colour or cultural differences. Could this lead to an ultimate battle between the human race, and the technologies we've worked so hard to create?
