MySpace joins Google’s OpenSocial

MySpace announced that is going to participate in Google’s OpenSocial. (story on PC World) OpenSocial is Google’s answer to two pressures: the market demand for fewer walled gardens in the social networking space, and the threat of Facebook since they opened up their APIs last spring.

OpenSocial is built upon Google Gadget technology, so you can build a great, viral social app with little to no serving costs. With the Google Gadget Editor and a simple key/value API, you can build a complete social app with no server at all.
