When it comes to bunkers on the golf course, none of them are identical. And the sand you find in them is also different from bunker to bunker. So when your ball lands in one of these traps, you have to make an educated assessment of the situation.

You have to know what kind of sand is in the bunker. Is it wet and coarse, is it fine and dry? What are the variables that are at work? And you have to know the lie of the ball that you have to deal with. Is the ball sitting on top of the sand? Is it buried, is it only buried half-way?

While every bunker has different types of sand and is a different size and configuration, typically, there are two extremes when it comes to bunkers.
