Northern Reflections: Primary Concerns

This may be the year that ordinary folks take back the political process from the professionals. Party bosses used to control their party's choice of political candidate. Then, the primaries gave that choice back to the people. However, with the advent of mass communication, party elites once again wrestled control of the process away from ordinary citizens. It looks like all that is about to change.
