It was with interest that I read an article in the Sunday Orlando Sentinel outlining another "climate crisis" in Antarctica. It seems that the Adelie penguin is "beginning to die off by the tens of thousands as a result of global warming." But this article led me to do a little research of my own, and my findings were startling. Even though the Adelie penguin is considered an indicator species, meaning they are some of the first species to be affected by subtle change, I found that even earlier indicators here in the United States, apparently overlooked, have pointed to global warming for decades.
