Everyone loves listening to music, and folks usually listen to favorites to a point where they've memorized not merely the song, but each individual part as well. But by listening intelligently, you can understand the difference between a well made song and a mediocre one, or a well-produced album from an amateur one. You'll be able to understand what sets certain songs apart from others, why some music has mass appeal and others stuff tends to fall off the wayside (or is that fall from the wayside?) it takes some of the mystery out of music, but for many it will help them appreciate music on a whole new level.
