Companies do put blocks on a number of open ended purchases, including gas, motels, and car rentals. This can be slow to be released and can even cause overdrafts on bank accounts. That's why you should not use a debit card for a motel room or car rental. They often block a lot more than $76.
So here it is. Under $20.00 dollars use Cash $21.00-$50.00 use Debit $50.00 + Credit. It makes sense. And walk into the gas station and pay with your card. Thats where they charge you the .55 cents fee instead of the large hold.... Always know before you slide...
