Eosinophilic enteropathy

This is another nasty disease where the body attacks its own intestinal lining. What causes the human body so intent on self-destruction from time to time? I guess if we knew the answer to that we would have the cure to cancer - not that Eosinophilic enteropathy is a cancer. Eosinophilic enteropathy may be caused by allergies but not in all cases..
