Discussion with personal anecdotes and additional background material of the recent revelations in the Washington Post about serious pollution of rural China by plants that manufacture polysilicon, also known as polycrystalline silicon, for use in solar panels. Comments from a recent visitor to China are added, as are references and links to how solar panels work and how they are made, and what a lifecycle analysis of them shows.
