Here is an interesting post about how the magazine industry is getting whacked and my Marc Andreessens take on it. My personal view is that this is a huge help long term for niche bloggers. If you write about the XYZ field and the leading publication is forced out of business by weak marketing practices than you can help pick up the slack. It will force even more people onto the internet. Yes, most enthusiasts of many topics use the internet anyways but some don't, or at least not as much as they could. Things like this will bring more and more of them online. Like I said not a huge immediate impact but just another piece of the shift from print to online.
