My oldest son is 10 years old and is always wanting something. I’m sure kids think that money just grows on trees. If it’s not new games for his Nintendo DS then it’s food for his pet mice (which he bought from his pocket money) or new shoes (which he needs about once a month) or whatever else they ‘need’ at the time.

My house rule is that they get pocket money once a week IF they do their chores and IF they come and help with the dishes when I ask them. As much as they want the money do you think that they actually do any of these things without whinging and complaining?

NO!

So yesterday I set Ben up with his own blog and I’ve told him that if he wants to make some money then he needs to do the work. I will help him of course but he needs to do his fair share. I’ve told him if he makes any money from his blog that he can have 50% to spend and 50% will go into his bank which he doesn’t get to touch.
