While any domain name is better than not having your own domain, there are some rules that can help. While there are plenty of examples of successful sites that break these domain name rules, keeping these rules in mind while you decide on your domain may help you get more traffic from the search engines.
Start with a .com domain. It can be tempting to start with a cheap info or some other domain suffix, but you will really just be advertising for the owner of the .com version of the domain. .com domains also seem to rank better than other domains.
