Today Blogger announced it's new OpenID sign in system for comments. Blogger will once again allow links back to blogs outside it's own domain in comments on Blogger hosted blogs. The Blogger dashboard carried an apology and explanation today, although the explanation leaves an unanswered question. Why did Google delete the linkback field in it's primary site when implementing OpenId as a test in the Blogger beta? Or was it an test to see if a Google ID could be made the ID of choice on the internet?
