This raises an interesting question. Since I started using the Visionary theme that displays the 'optional excerpt' field on the front page and in search listings I've used that most of the time for BZ as well. This is usually slightly different from the actual article intro though. I wonder how that affects things.
Secondly, so far as duplication penalties go, how does this work so far as what gets scrapped by blog search engines and by "quick excerpt" scrapper splogs?
